What is Somatic (psycho) Therapy?

Based on the belief that mind, body and spirit are one (intelligent) entity that will move towards healing and growth given the right environment, Somatic therapy incorporates a person’s mind, body, spirit, and emotions as essential elements in the healing process.

According to somatic therapy theory, the sensations associated with past trauma or unprocessed experiences may become trapped or frozen within the body and reflected in facial expressions, posture, muscular pain, or other forms of body language. While talk therapy can help address this trauma by bringing consciousness to the situation, in order to heal the whole Body needs to be involved.

Somatic therapy includes the use of movement, sound, breath, and imagery within other tools to deepen their clients’ understanding of themselves, expand creative expression and support full integration.

Why I use Somatic Therapy?
My own healing has been one of finding Home in my own Body. My biggest wish is to facilitate that process for my clients. My journey has been (and still is) supported by various conscious embodiment practices that I use as to ground myself and support my clients to do so. The main ones are: visualization & imagery, interoception, free movement/dance, conscious breathe, authentic movement, yoga, chi kung and cyclic awareness.
